AHS Student Bulletin

Parking in AHS Lots are by Permit ONLY!  Vehicles not displaying permits clearly may be subject to citation by the City of Arcadia.

 

ASVAB test: Juniors and Seniors, sign-ups have started for the ASVAB test that will be given Tuesday, October 19th 1st thru 4th period.  The ASVAB test is the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery.  It is a great test to help you determine your skills and abilities in 9 different areas and it is FREE.  Come to the ROP office P-12 today. Space is limited.

 

Information Pertaining to Clubs

Club charters will no longer be accepted after 3:00PM on Friday, September 17. Please turn them in to Dr. Sutro before the deadline. Fall Clubs’ Day will be held on Monday, September 27th in the North Gym during lunch. Come out to find out what clubs AHS has to offer!

 

WATERMELON EATING CONTEST! Do you think you have the skills to finish eating a slice of watermelon before other contestants? Do you want to enjoy eating nice, cold watermelons on a hot Friday? Then come out to the Rally Court THIS FRIDAY, the 10th at lunch to compete in Senior Council’s Watermelon Eating Contest! Winners will receive a gift card to Yogurtland!

 

Rose Court Presentation will be held on Wednesday, September 15th in the Little Theater at Lunch time for those Senior Girl's who are interested.

 

For student convenience, the ASB Office is open on school days before school from 7:30 - 7:53 a.m., at lunch time from 12:02 - 12:43 p.m., and after school from 2:45 - 3:15 p.m.  Unfortunately, we are unable to assist students with personal needs during class time.

 

AHS Peer Tutoring Now Recruiting!

Peer Tutoring is a convenient way for you to earn hours volunteering in the high school library. We offer tutoring Mondays through Thursdays, from 3 PM to 4 PM, in a variety of subjects. Freshmen or other interested students can apply to volunteer at First Avenue and/or Dana through our Outreach program. Please come to H-10 at lunch or after school if you have any questions or want an application!

 

Attention Former Dana Middle School Students:  Were you in Band 3 or  Orchestra 3? Do you still have any pieces from your band or orchestra  uniform in your closet? The Dana Music Club is having a "Uniform  Homecoming." Bring any uniform items to the Dana office and receive a  Yogurtland gift card as a thank you. No band shoes, please.

 

 

 

 

 

Boys Basketball Tryouts- Tryouts are being held for the upcoming boys basketball season starting Monday Sept. 20 through Friday Sept. 25th from 6:15am - 7:30. With the final day of tryouts being Sat. Sept. 26th from 8M-10am. You must have your athletic clearance forms along with your medical clearance turned into Ms. O in the athletic office prior to trying out. No one will be able to tryout without being medically cleared!!! Forms may be found on the School's Athletic web page.  If you have any questions, contact Coach Ryan @ jryan@ausd.net.

 

AEF will offer Driver Education during zero period, October 4 - November 17.

Homecoming Contracts will be available online on our website asb.ausd.net as of Wednesday, September 8th.

 

Attention Seniors:  The last day to drop a semester elective for a 5.0 credit TA position is

 Friday, September 10. 

 

Attention All Students:  The last day to request a level change (AP to College Preparatory or Honors to College Preparatory) is Friday, September 24. Level changes are subject to availability.

 

Attention Juniors and Seniors:  The last day to request a drop from a year-long academic course for a 5.0 credit TA position is Friday, September 24.

 

FALL 2010 ELECTION REMINDERS:

If you are interested in running for a Freshman Council position or the ASB Historian position, please read the following information carefully.

9/7, Tuesday: Mandatory Petitions due at ASB Office by 3:15 PM

                       Must bring AHS ID!!!

9/8, Wednesday: Mandatory Campaign Statement due to asb@ausd.net by 8 AM

9/9, Thursday: Mandatory Meeting for ALL candidates in C-1 at 6 PM

Senior Counselors will be in the Career Center at lunch during the month of October to answer questions and accept requests for Counselor Letters of Rec.

 

Seniors: Don't forget to check on Naviance for College Representative visits and sign up!  We already have about 15 schools planning on visiting AHS either during lunch or after

school and you can meet with the rep in a small setting and become familiar to them before they get your application.

All grade levels are welcome at College visits but you MUST SIGN UP!
