UC Application Information:

Accepting a Freshman or Transfer Admission Offer:

Students accept an admission offer by agreeing to and meeting the provisions/conditions outlined in the offer and submitting their Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) with the SIR deposit to reserve their space at a campus.  The SIR deposit $250. Some important things to keep in mind about accepting a UC admission offer:

1.      SIR Deadlines:  The SIR deadline for freshman applicants is May 1.  The SIR deadline for transfer applicants is June 1.

2.      For students who received an application fee waiver, the SIR deposit may be deferred until financial aid is disbursed.

3.      The SIR deposit is nonrefundable and nontransferable.  Admitted students should not submit a SIR to more than one UC campus.  If an applicant changes his or her mind regarding which UC campus to attend prior to the SIR deadline or accepts a waitlist offer from another UC campus, the original SIR deposit is not transferable between UC campuses.  The previous deposit is forfeited and a new deposit must be submitted.

4.      Some UC campuses may require the student to attend an Orientation.  Orientation is valuable to your student’s successful matriculation and can be a great opportunity to make new friends!  Students should review orientation options early to secure a date that best meets their schedule.

5.      Students may be required to submit a Statement of Legal Residence (SLR).  The SLR is used to determine a student’s classification as a resident or non-resident for tuition purposes.

UC Campuses to Use Waitlists for Freshman and Transfer Students:

All campuses, except Merced, will use waitlists for freshman and/or transfer applicants.  An invitation to be on the list is not a guarantee of a future admission offer.  Each campus has its own specific process for waitlisted applicants.

Waitlist Process FAQs:

http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/q-and-a/waitlist/index.html?mc_cid=5fae31e824&mc_eid=d536825026

Academic Records due on July 1:

Freshman and transfer students who accept an offer of admission to a University of California campus have until July 1 to submit final, official transcripts/academic records to the UC campus where they intend to enroll.

Test scores:  Official AP, IB, and/or A-Level exam results are not required of admitted students until July 15. Students should have an official score report sent from the test agency to the enrolling campus.

Cancelling or Withdrawing a Statement of Intent to Register:

Applicants who have submitted a Statement of Intent to Register (SIR), and changed their mind or accept another offer, must cancel their SIR following the directions for the campus listed in the link below.

The campus SIR deposit is nonrefundable and nontransferable.  Applicants canceling one SIR to a UC campus in order to accept another offer of admission from a different UC campus must submit a new SIR and deposit.

Attendance Policies & Procedures Reminder

It is important to follow the necessary steps when absent:

Step 1 - Parent/Guardian should notify attendance office by phone, email or fax of absence in a brief message stating name, ID#, grade, date and reason for every absence.

Step 2 - Note must be submitted to the attendance signed by at least one parent or guardian the day student returns to school.  The note must include student name, ID#, grade date(s) and periods of absence, and reason for absence.  Name and signature of parent/guardian and relationship to student must also be on the note with a current phone number.

Educational guidelines require the school to have a note for student absences.  The following procedures will be followed:

If a student does not bring in a note they will be assigned Saturday School.  The absence will be considered a truant or unexcused absence.

Once a student has received a Saturday School assignment they have one day to clear the absence with a note from their parent or guardian.  If the note is brought in the day after they are originally assigned Saturday School they will not have to serve Saturday School.

If the note is not brought by the end of the day after Saturday School is assigned the student will have to serve their assigned Saturday School and the absence will stay as a truant or unexcused absence.

Students must report to the attendance office when they receive a call-slip.  It is your opportunity to submit your note so you will not be assigned Saturday School.  Failure to appear will result in a referral to Saturday School.
